The Water Gem is a Key Item found inside Sanctuary. It allows Ryu access to the Serpent dragon transformation, which can be upgraded into Peist with sufficient Game Points.

Story

Fou-Lu finding the gem inside the sanctuary.

After leaving Bunyan's cabin, Fou-Lu was once again injured during a confrontation with Yohm. He transformed into Astral in order to escape, but was shot by Khafu's Eldritch Flame. He crashed into Sonne village, where he was nursed back to health by Mami, a local farmer who developed romantic feelings for him.

After Fou-Lu killed a local "Mountain God" at Mt. Yogy, the villagers became suspicious and reported him to the authorities. They come to arrest him, however Fou-Lu managed to flee while Mami gets captured. He rushes into the forest where he meets a small maman and discovers that the entrance to the sanctum is obstructed. In order to open the way for Fou-Lu, the maman repeatedly rams the entrance, this indeed clears the path forward, but it also kills the maman. Fou-Lu is by stages confused, grateful, and saddened by the creature's sacrifice as he enters the sanctum. Inside, he finds the water dragon gem, which allows him to transform into Serpent.
