WarHog is an enemy that appears in the original Breath of Fire. They are orange humanoid pig creatures that use glaive-like polearms as weapons. They tend to appear in groups of two or with other monsters. Their Japanese name was alternately translated as Ogre in Breath of Fire II, and as Orc in Breath of Fire III.
Etymology[]
While "WarHog" provides an accurate physical description of the pig-like warrior, it is also a pun on "warthog," a type of real world wild pig noted for its aggression. There are also historical accounts of the ancient Romans using "war pigs" as a type of military animal.
