I II III IV V VI

The Tidal Caves are a location that appear in Breath of Fire III. They connect the isolated southern coast of the Rhapala Region with the Urkan Region, and are the only route that can be taken to reach Cliff.

The Tidal Caves are known for the constant shift between high tide and low tide, which either grants or restricts access to various parts of the caves. The primary way is to traverse it by foot, but the party can also take various rafts back and forth between certain locations at different tides. The only way to reach the Cliff-side exit is to wait until low tide.

After this location is crossed once, it can be bypassed on the world map, like most other locations.

Story[]

The Tidal Caves are impassable during the first portion of the game.

After Ryu and his companions return to Angel Tower after the timeskip, they learn that in order to free Deis, they will need to find Gaist. They pass through the Tidal Caves on their way to Cliff, where Gaist has gone into hiding.

Items[]

  • Coin - In a chest in the tide room, reached via the upper tunnels
  • Fish-Head - In a chest at the north end of the upper tunnels
  • Thunder Ring - In a chest at the far eastern end of the second level of the tide room (low tide)
  • Hawk's Ring - On a corpse at the far end of the lower tunnels (low tide)
  • Deadly Blade - In a chest outside, past the far end of the lower level raft ride (low tide)

Enemies[]

Many of the enemies here are weak to lightning damage, so stopping by Junk Town to pick up a Barbarossa and a Thunder Rod or two is advisable.

Game Data[]

The Gross Gene is located here at the end of the caves, near the exit to Cliff.
