River is a location in Breath of Fire IV. It is a pathway that links Paedra with the Zhinga Mountains. Anyone who wants to cross it needs both strength and intellect as the path requires pushing crates, pulling levers and adjusting the water level occasionally in order to make their way across.
Story[]
Cray is the only part member capable of pushing the crates
After haggling and fulfilling the desire of the merchant Fu Chuman in Chiqua, Ryu and the others learn how to travel from the Paedra deeper into the Western Continent by crossing over the Zhinga Mts. region to finally reach Chedo, the imperial capital.
They need to cross the river several times, utilizing Cray's raw strength and their wits to cross over from side to side. A bored worker catches their attention. After a brief discussion with him, they learn the location of the Nameless One.
Finally, the party leave the River and head towards the village of Pauk.

Trivia[]
- Talk to the NPC on the second screen and pick dragon as conversation topic. Once he asks how they look like, Ryu should respond "like grass and rocks". The party will learn the location of the quarry where the party finds the Rock Dragon's dragon evocation. The same result can be reached by picking traveling and stating "By Sea".
- If Ryu picks traveling as topic and responds with "Yesterday" once asked where they are from, he will receive a Wisdom Seed.
- If the party picks traveling as topic and responds with "chased by the empire", they receive a Power Food.
