Lava Man is an enemy that appears in Breath of Fire III. It can be encountered on Mt. Zublo. Both its stats and the experience points it rewards the player with upon its defeat increase each time it is struck by a fireelemental attack (to a maximum of 15 attacks).

Lava Man has an extremely low resistance to iceelemental attacks, and it can therefore be dispatched quickly with such abilities as Iceblast.
Lava Man is often regarded as one of the best enemies in the game for leveling up quickly, as you can increase its EXP by the use of Fire elemental attacks. However, this also increases its other stats, so a low-level party might not survive long enough to defeat it unless the usage of Soul Gems is abused. The maximum EXP you can get from a Lava Man using this method is 65,535, which results from 15 uses of fire attacks.
To increase the odds of survival, the usage of fire resistance boosting armor and accessories (such as Asbestos Armor, Magma Armor, Ring of Fire) is recommended, as well abilities which weaken the stats of the Lava Man or increase those of your own party.
