Guntz is a recurring location that appears throughout the Breath of Fire series. A technologically advanced community, it serves as the home of the Iron Ogre Clan and appears in the original Breath of Fire and Breath of Fire II.

Role throughout the series

Breath of Fire

Originally known as Gant, the town is exclusively inhabited by, and the primary home of, the Iron Ogre Clan. One of its residents Ox, informs Ryu that the Dark Dragons have imprisoned all of the town's young men, and are forcing them to construct a superweapon. The party then helps Ox to free them.

Breath of Fire II

The town is still the nominal home of the Iron Ogres, although it is now also inhabited by some humans. Visiting the town is not required, however the player must recruit Eichichi from here in order to enable Township's flying ability and attain the game's best ending.
