Message "Gold Egg loses a chunk of flesh!"

The Gold Egg can yield tremendous Zenny, however, there are are a few caveats. It has a predilection to flee, particularly after being damaged. Also, when inflicted with physical damage there is a chance that it will "lose a chunk of flesh!" Each time this occurs, the amount of Zenny it awards is decreased by 20%. It should be noted however that this condition is only triggered by its being struck by the attack command, therefore, skills that inflict physical damage are safe to use.

Because of this foe's propensity to flee, it is in the player's best interest to defeat it with strong attacks that can finish it quickly. A combination of War Shout/Might and Shadowwalk or Aura should prove effective. Otherwise Dragon Forms or Weretiger can also do the job neatly. Force Gene with any of the basic elements should yield the sufficient strength to defeat this foe with a single claw attack.

The Gold Egg's Ovum ability can turn units into eggs and render them inactive, thereby slowing the enemy's defeat and providing additional opportunity for it will flee. As a result, equipment that protects against negative status conditions is advised. To maximize benefits and reduce problems, it is also recommended that the player equips a Midas Stone, which can be acquired in Wyndia.
