Fishing Spots are minor locations found around the world map in the Breath of Fire Series and are used to fish. Fishing Spots are found in different ways depending on the game, in Breath of Fire and Breath of Fire II fishing spots are found at set locations on the word map on the side of cliffs and lakes. When a fishing spot is active a small white fish will be jumping up and down in the water. In Breath of Fire III and Breath of Fire IV Fishing Spots are locations of their own, in IV usually marked as a "?" until discovered. Ryu is the only one able to access fishing spots and fish when equipped with a rod and Bait.
Fishing Spots are also places to find treasure chests and Manillo Shops if a Manillo is caught.

Breath of Fire II[]
Fishing spots are found around the Breath of Fire II world, fishing spots are accessible when a jumping fish is found. Fishing spots will active at random just like Hunting Spots in II.
How to Fish[]
Fishing is a battle between your rod and the fish, both have health bars but the rods health is the only one that matters. If your rods hp hits zero you lose the fish, if you pull too many times for your rod you lose the fish, if the fish just decides its done and turns gray after leaping into the air you lose the fish, and finally if the fish reaches the far right of the screen you lose the fish. Everytime you pull the fish your rod and the fish lose health, if the fish is moving your rod loses double the health for that pull. Once the fishes health reaches zero your rod takes a tiny bit less health damage with each pull. But the fish wont change its behavior, it will still rush away, leap into the air, and turn gray randomly. Fishing in breath of fire II is brutal, but if you do manage to pull the fish to Ryu without the rod breaking or the fish turning gray, you catch the fish. Then you can either sell it for money, use it as an item, or cook it in Township.
