Deamoned is a non-playable character who appears in Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter. He is the former leader of the Regents.

Role in Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter

Deamoned lost both his eye, and his position as leader of the Regents, to the First Chosen, Elyon. Though he should have lost his position within the group, Elyon kept him within the organization. It is implied in his dialogue that he may have been the one who killed Odjn and pinned his corpse down in the lowest levels of Sheldar.

Deamoned appears several times throughout the story during the Regent meetings discussing Ryu's progress. When Ryu's group reaches the entrance to Centre, Deamoned personally greets the party and faces the team in battle. He does so out of the honor of his lost position. Deamoned battles ferociously but is eventually overcome by the party, he leaves behind the D-Key which is one of the keys needed to open the door to the surface.

Deamoned serves as an intro boss for the player when dealing with the Regents, as he introduces the concept of the Absolute Defense, which serve as a HP Barrier the player must first destroy in order to actually inflict damage on the boss. This ABD will regenerate so the player must properly apply combos and AP usage to maximize damage every round.

Etymology

Daemoned may derive itself from the Greek word Daemon, which were spirits or the essense of the gods that reside in nature and people. These spirits, according to Plato, reside in all people and influence us and they can be both benevolent or malicious.
